I've limited knowledge on Portugal cuisine, but Portuguese foods are typically closer to Mediterranean cuisine. And that is also because of its geographical location. But here's a thing I'm more certain of: the "caldo verde" is a popular soup in the country. The soup is comprised commonly of collard greens, garlic, onions, potatoes, savoy cabbage, kale, and usually serve with bread.

The national dish in Portugal is Bacalhau or dried, salted cod. Seafoods like shrimps, lobsters, crabs and oysters is a part of every menu. They are also fond of food with cinnamon and curry powder.

Mediterranean cuisine sounds fairly good. Is it very much different from Greek food? If so, I think it will be very good for someone who doesn't eat much meat. What are some of the most common fruit used?

Note: though bacalhau can come dried and salted, it is first re-hydrated - don't try to eat it salted!

Common fruits in the winter are apple and orange. In the summer we eat a lot of watermelon and all kinds of melon. Pineapple (especially in Madeira), pear, marmelos (don't know how to translate this, but it is kind of like a spicy apple), and cherry are also popular.

Caldo verde is really good and I love it with olive oil too, not just bread. Another popular soup is canja, which is chicken soup.

Great! I love soup. But I love pasta too. Do Portuguese people loves pasta too? Do they have some recipe that has pasta as it's main ingredient? If yes, how delicious it it?

I think Portugal has a number of national dishes. Like Feijoada,Rancho,Leitão and the likes. They have a good taste of food that's why they are plenty of it.
