During the Summer months portugal enjoys very high temperatures and the cloudless skies mean exposure to the sun can be prolonged and intense. Please utilise common sense to minimise the risk of illnesses such as
skin-cancer and sunstroke, use plenty of sunscreen of a suitable UV Factor, especially children, a hat and sunglasses are recommended, particularly between 12-3pm, where it would be advisable to avoid exposure to the sun totally if possible.
(The Portuguese often refer to sunburnt tourists as 'Prawns'!)
Seek medical attention if you are badly sunburned or suffering heatstroke.
